British artists such as Coldplay and Robert Plant dominated the 51st Grammy awards in Los Angeles, triumphing in many of the major categories. Veteran singer Plant had the biggest haul of the evening with five awards, with Coldplay anointed in three categories. Adele, Duffy, Radiohead and Estelle picked up another six awards between them.
Coldplay - who received seven Grammy nominations - won Best Pop Performance by a Duo Or Group and the coveted Song Of The Year for their best-selling track Viva La Vida. Newcomer Adele said she felt like crying after winning the Best New Artist.
